why is flossing so hard

Flossing My Habit Tracker Keeps Me Humble

Alright, alright - laugh it up. I can't get myself to floss (actually, you can't get me to meditate either). It turns out I'm more motivated to journal (which was never really the case before - anyone else have like five half-used journals?) than floss.

But why? Well...there's no dopamine in flossing (or meditating too?).

And if you've read any of my other stuff, if there's no dopamine in it, there's no doing it. I've started to learn more that ADHD brain works well with the carrot system (i.e. carrot on a stick, or rewards).

The challenge is finding a reward that is self-administering and relevant. Ever wonder why "gamification" and "instant media" works so well? It's because it's self-administering (scroll, get video, get dopamine) and relevant (you like videos curated for your interests).

But flossing?

Man, if I got a five dollar bill or an achievement for flossing everyday in a month? Sign me up. (Dentists, y'all better start this program)
